Setup public key authentication (Login without password under linux)

Memo to myself:

This is the way to setup a public key authentication under linux (Source host = server which wants to login to an other server without using a password):

Source Host:

Switch to desired “source”-user
su -
ssh-keygen -t dsa
scp $HOME/.ssh/id_dsa.pub user@dest-server:
sh user@server

Destination host

(if no .ssh file exists in home directory): mkdir .ssh && chmod 700 .ssh
Destination host: cat id_dsa.pub >>.ssh/authorized_keys
Destination host: rm id_dsa.pub
